Greetings! My name is Cathy Gentile. I have taught 3rd grade here at Our Lady of the Lake School for over 13 years. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education (K-8) from Ohio Northern University. I also received a Masters of Special Education (Mild-Moderate) from Cleveland State University. I have 8 years as a Title One Math teacher right here at Our Lady of the Lake.
My husband Tom and I have been parishioners at Our Lady of the Lake for over 40 years. I feel a strong sense of community pride with people who want the best for their school and church. My children grew up in this strong, faith-centered Christian community. The education they received at Holy Cross (OLL) in concert with strong family values at home were the building blocks of their lives-both educationally and spiritually. Besides teaching, I enjoy traveling, reading, quilting and spending time with my family, especially my 5 grandchildren!
I would like to continue to give back to my parish and to help educate young minds to become well-rounded, responsible and successful individuals. I know that I can give students a creative and stimulating learning experience with hands on learning along with technology to prepare them for the future. I also find it is rewarding to not only work with the students but their parents as well. We are all partners in their child’s education. Together we can help their child succeed.
My greatest strength is my ability to inspire and motivate students. Along with strong classroom management skills, I inspire my students to reach for the stars every day. I love to teach! I would like my students to see me as an example that learning is a life-long process.
